    Well, here's my fanime report.

    Friday:
Showed up at the hotel around 1:30, ran around with various people for awhile. I finally met Natsuki, Young and Erin from Nekobox. Picked up a Jin-Roh figurine with lots of nice WW2 weapons in the dealer’s room. Tommy dragged me into a yaoi doujinshi area, and read Anal Fantasy VIII out loud in the hotel room, much to our delight. I brought the hockey mask so there are a few pictures of me wandering around the hotel wearing it and wielding a hockey mask. Around 7pm we started to set up karaoke. I ran into problems here cuz up until Fanime I'd been getting normal people sleep. As in, going to bed around midnight and waking up at 8am. So by 7pm, I was already starting to feel kinda tired. I fought it off with caffeine. Fortunately we had the contest on this day so we could get the gory thing over with. Being a judge may be fairly easy but it can get kinda grueling. Ryo got me hooked on the Porno Graffiti song Agehachou. After the contest Genri, Dom, Dave, some other guy and I did the Yatta! song. Genri had a fairly accurate outfit. Scary. Dom dropped his pants to reveal his Maximo heart boxers. Scarier. I was doing backup dancing and vocals wearing the hockey mask. Dave was a Wolfwood. We were like some sort of whacked out demented Village People. Erin invited me to the Webcomic panel on Saturday morning, so I said I would go.Anyhow, I stayed at karaoke after my shift and helped shut down around 5. Why, I dunno.

    Saturday:
Woke up 3 hours after sleeping and wandered around with Dom for awhile. Tried out RedOctane’s 0 DDR pad and found it to be quite nice, but I just knew that down the road I’d kick myself in the ass for spending that much on a DDR pad. Before the con I’d decided I wasn’t leaving without a Gundam model, so I selected the MG Kampfer, the only Gundam I know of with a shotgun. Perfect. So after terrorizing the dealer’s room, I went to the webcomic panel, which was in an obscenely small room. Fortunately we were moved into a much bigger room in the convention center. Apparently it was the largest panel at fanime. The guests were me, Natsuki, Tanzy, Rin, Dom, Greg from Real Life comics, Batjew from Penny Arcade, and the Nekobox-gumi. Was fairly fun. Umm… Afterwards was kind of a haze. The lack of sleep caught up to me. I helped Terrence move some stuff from his car for his Sakura Taisen panel, and went up to the hotel room and dozed off for awhile. Soon it was time to set up for karaoke again, so off I went. Steph clipped her sailor hat to my head. I missed Terrence and Ryo’s birthday dinner downstairs cuz I was on shift, but I ran down there a few times. After my shift was over I kinda wandered awhile till I found out there was a room party going on in 411, so I went up there and had a few drinks. There are some funny pictures. It was the second weekend in a row I got drunk and got molested by drunk guys. After everyone got sufficiently wasted we all went down to the karaoke room and sang an escaflowne song. A little while afterwards we tore down the karaoke stuff and hauled it off to Hank’s truck. By the time we were done it was about 5:40. People were talking about how it was 20 minutes till they could buy alcohol again. Teehee. But I had enough for the night (was sober enough to be uncomfortable when other guys groped me), and went back to the room to pass out.

    Sunday:
Woke up early again for some reason, only 3 hours of sleep. Wandered around aimlessly for awhile and met up with Young, Natchan and Erin. Lost them and wandered around with Aya. Lost her too, so I ended up sitting in on Young’s CG panel. Neat vector stuff, woo. Eventually I wandered over to the room Katie was staying in and hung out with her and her friends for a little while. Around 1 or so the #fy crowd was hungry, so I tried to set up a gathering at Su’s Mongolian BBQ, one of my favorite places. Unfortunately I gave lousy directions, and the place was closed for lunch on Sunday anyway, so that plan was scrapped. Charles, Charles and Steph knew of a Korean BBQ place that was open too, so we all ended up there. Chad was still drunk from the night before so he ended up passing out in my car while we ate. When we came out Dom stuffed some lettuce leaves down Chad’s pants. Then we posed for some pictures and people departed. I went back to the hotel and noticed Katie’s car was still in the lot, so I went looking for her. Sat with her and her friends for a little while again, and when they went to go eat, I took off for home.

The Big 21: The Morning After

"I'm rejecting it..." -About 2 hours after the 4th shot of tequila

Well here we are, the morning after the birthday and big party. The following is a log of events that occurred, as best as I can remember.

Woke up early, roughly 8:30. Was out the door and on the way to Jack in the Box around 9. Picked up an supreme croissant combo and french toast sticks. After breakfast and sufficient time to goof off and fully wake up I went to my one class, at 11:45.

Stampher's class was a good one, while talking about a problem he got distracted (as usual): "Oh, pardon me while I get distracted for a moment here and rub my arm... You see, I had to take a physical for my insurance company yesterday. The main thing is they try to figure out if I have AIDS."
'So uh.. have you engaged in any, uh...'
'Oh, NO... No.. Well, it's been a long time.'
Then while talking about a problem where we determine that someone will not actually have TB after testing positive for it, he randomly says:
'Well Joe, we have your results..'
    'GaaadDAAAMN.'
Yes, it was a good class as usual, but it came to an end, so I went on my merry way home.

After getting home I tidied up the room a bit in preparation for Katie's visit. She came around 3:30 with peeps and a nice cake, and we spent some time together before going to the Mongolian BBQ place for dinner.

After dinner we briefly returned to my house to pick up some stuff, and proceeded to go to the Oliveira residence, my home away from home. The only one there at the time was Conrado, so Katie and I curled up together on a couch to work off the food coma. After a little while, Katie fell asleep, so rather than have her wake up with her arm asleep like a rock, I wandered off to find my friends.

We were still waiting for Josh to show up so Francisco, Carlos and I indulged in a game of our favorite past-time, NHL Hitz. During this time Katie woke up and was pretty bored by everything going on, and because of 880 closing at 11pm decided to take off. At she left Josh showed up with Raquel, followed by Boris and Rachel. They were bearers of much, much alcohol.

With the (almost) full team assembled, we started off the night with the first (of many) tequila shots. My pansy ass opted for a half full shot, and set the stage for the rest of the evening.

Um... Gawd, I can barely remember the events that followed in sequence, so I'll just use bullet points.

  • Had 4.5 shots of tequila and a can of Miller Light
  • Had a "baby" B-52. A 3 layered drink with Kahlua, Bailey's, and Bacardi 151, only in my size, and not on fire - "No fucking pyrotechnics in my drink Josh! Drop the goddam lighter!"
  • Asked parents to spend the night at the house. Request granted, thankfully.
  • Warbled out a rendition of Tenacious D's "Fuck Her Gently" with Carlos on guitar
  • Played Stairway to Heaven drunk while Carlos warbled the lyrics
  • Went to Albertsons for the ritual of buying alcohol and showing my ID for the first time. Goodness, Raquel put up with a lot of shit from us drunkards in the car. She's cool. Boris was pretty fucked up, he hopped out of the car and started miming a James Bond sequence. We told him to calm down before we got arrested for trying to rob the store.
  • Someone put in Boris' Russian dance music CD, so he started getting his groove on. Unfortunately he kinda got it on with me while I had my back turned and was leaning on the kitchen counter. - "...I just got freaked by Boris ..."
  • The freakiness continued later as I got sandwiched Roxbury style by... Good lord, I don't remember who. Maybe it was Francisco and Josh.
  • "Goddammit, my ass has been slapped by almost all the guys in this room!" *slap* "Make that -all-"
  • Was carried around by Francisco and sometime later, Josh
  • Sometime after the 4th tequila shot someone lit the candles on my cake, which read.. 91.
  • After a few hours I started crashing, hard. Curled up on a couch and was feeling pretty damn cold/ill. Rachel was on the floor somewhere moaning about feeling really sick. My mouth started to fill with acidy fluid that I couldn't keep down, so I ran over to the bathroom and puked a few times. Felt better afterwards, and was dimly awake for a little while.
  • During the dim period I heard Rachel getting angry at Boris for.. something, and sometime afterwards heard Josh making out with Raquel. Joy.
  • Lost consciousness for an unknown period of time
  • Was helped out of the couch by Conrado around 4am and saw Josh and Raquel before they left. Once again told Raquel she was cool for putting up with us drunken stupid people.
  • Passed out again on the spare bed in Conrado's room.

I got up around 9:45 and talked with Carlos for a bit, and arrived at home around 10. Had a little chat with my dad, who was surprisingly cool about the whole thing. He said I made the right decision by not driving home. W00t. And here I am. It was an amazing night, but not something I care to repeat again anytime soon. I've gotten it out of my system.

    Friday, January 25, 2002 - 04:08 a.m.

    Welp, I'm a dumbass.

Did my unix homework early and finished it on wednesday night (not due till thursday at 11:59pm). On thursday I got home and passed out, completely forgot about it. I saw Josh (who's in the class) become active on AIM and remembered then. Whoops!

It'll be docked a grade, ah well. Live and learn.

    Thursday, January 24, 2002 - 07:51 p.m.

Eeto... I did something very very stupid yesterday. Ate ate an all you can eat place for lunch (Hometown Buffet) and another all you can eat place for dinner (Su's Mongolian BBQ). After three plates of food and desert, and two bowls of mongolian bbq I was at the point where I couldn't even drink water, and was loudly wishing for quick death. On the way home I was afraid I'd puke or pass out along the way. But I made it back okay and two hours later I was more or less myself again.

    Wednesday, January 23, 2002 - 03:56 a.m.

Well, things are continuing as normal tonight... I got little sleep last night and took a 3 hour nap earlier this evening, so I'm awake for the time being. I've noticed I'm a hungry more often than usual lately. Luckily I think me and the guys are going to get together tonight and have dinner at Su's mongolian b-b-q, so I should get my fill. Spent 4 hours working on a unix scripting assignment, and it's not even due till Thursday evening. I still have a paper to write tomorrow but I'm not too worried. Actually I'm more worried about how I'm going to print it out.

My stomach kinda hurts. I hope that leftover chicken I had at Francisco's place wasn't going bad after all. I'm pondering attacking the last cup o' noodle downstairs.

    Currently obsessing over this...

    Tuesday, January 22, 2002 - 03:34 a.m.

I'm hungry. I dunno, maybe it's because my sleep cycle is way off now, I usually sleep a few hours at night, and a few more in the afternoon. But in the middle of the night I get pretty damn hungry. Just the thought of going to Denny's for chicken fried steak and eggs or something makes me froth at the mouth. Too bad Pho Hoa isn't open 24 hours anymore. I need to learn how to cook. For some reason I feel like going to Suu's Mongolian BBQ today. Maybe I can drag someone along with me. Eating alone ain't fun but I'll do it if I have to.

    Tuesday, January 15, 2002 - 01:47 a.m.

Yo. Been awhile huh? I fell asleep earlier but woke up again, so I figured I might as well mess with this thing again. Anyhoo, here's the current state of Ed.

Things are better these days. For the most part. I'm back to a midnight curfew because my parents think I'm inconsiderate for not thinking about how they worry about me when I'm out late. But is cool, I'm planning to move out as soon as I graduate and mom retires. They really can't do anything about it then.

Generally, my dad is a happier person these days. He went through his midlife crisis thing and ended up getting a very large truck. He remains unapologetic about what happened last summer, and that irks me. But ah well, can't have everything, right?

Mike's doing well, but the lil bastard's broken my printer, and his vcrs, so I ended up giving him mine. The vcr I don't need so much, but I'm back in school so the lack of printer is starting to hurt.

As for school, I've gone through the list of classes I need to graduate, and calculated that if I take 3 classes during the summer, I can get away with taking 3 classes one quarter next year if I take 4 every quarter from now on. I'll probably take Capstone during the 3 class quarter, which is the last course required in the business school, and has a bitch of a final project. But hey, I can graduate on time, so it's all good.

I have a minor beef with one of my friends. He caused me to be late getting home one night because he was running late on getting to a movie theater, so he decided to just drive there instead of taking me back to my car or dropping me off on Capitol. Then the following Tuesday he shafted me in a class because we have to form groups for an important project, and he decided he wanted to be in the one with all the smart people. But whatever. Live and learn, I say.

    Sunday, August 12, 2001 - 03:56 a.m.

today was michael's birthday. ate chinese food for lunch with the family. went to the ddr tournament in milpitas, met up with alie and terrence. went with them to sunnyvale to actually play ddr, then went back to milpitas. randomly bumped into Laurence, a friend from Bellarmine. called my dad and found out he'd been in a car accident. bench fell on my foot while I was talking to him. got tired of milpitas and went to see Katie. watched her and Kourin play video games for awhile and ate dinner. went into strange laughing fits due to the little sheep boy in bust-a-move 4. got dropped off at car, then Katie and Kourin went to see Tanzy. feeling cold and lonely went to milpitas to see if anyone was still there. found no one. went home and found out ddr tournament was shut down. stared at the computer for a few hours and decided to blog.

    Saturday, July 21, 2001 - 05:46 p.m.

My nbci site is now kaput. Can't update anything or access the stuff on my account. So no more mini-edheads for updates. Besides, they're all pissed off anyway. This was my last blog entry on my old site that never made showed up due to blogger being unable to update.

Ok, so here I am blogging again, after almost 3 months. Yay. The bigass fanime report I promised has never materialized, and probably will, since I won't be able to remember half of it by now. This is mostly because I was a zombie for most of the con anyway. Anyhow, at some point during the con, I was dressed up as Izam (making me Edzam, yay), and when I became zombie Edzam some nice people got me to sing. After this I was completely gone, and when I saw myself in the mirror after wearing the outfit for 6 hours and without my wig, I well, wigged out and sang part of Sweet Transvestite. This has ruined the song for Katie, and I apologize.

So here I am almost 3 months later. Lotsa stuff happened. I hooked up with Katie(*^-^*), got my driver's license and a car (green Honda '01 Accord, yey). Driving's not nearly as much of a chore I thought it'd be when I first started, and am much more comfortable now. Am currently preparing to go to AX, and working on a third season Empire LoGH outfit.

(Well, we know how THAT turned out...)

Today started out like most of my other summer days. I woke up sometime in the afternoon, felt extremely guilty about it for a few minutes, then got up and wondered around. I needed more silver trim for my LoGH outfit, so I decided to go to the fabric store and buy the rest of the roll. Stopped by Arby's for lunch on the way back, and went home. Shortly after eating lunch, I talked to Katie for a bit, then decided to go over to Josh's. After sitting around there for awhile, we got a call from Francisco and went with him to go have dinner at Minato's. Apparently tomorrow (er, today) is Francisco's parents' 20 year anniversary, so things were hectic for them, and Francisco was supposed to be home ASAP so he could help out.

...naturally, this results in the total opposite.

So after dinner Josh and I took off with Francisco, and after making a brief stop for double espressos, we end up taking the long way home. Which turns into the really long way home. Which turned into "Josh, where the hell are we?" as we were driving around the hills that look so far away from my house. At the same time, to let off some steam/stress, Francisco would randomly yell out "FUUUUCK!!!!" at the top of his lungs out the window. We drove through some pretty odd areas, saw lotsa shacks and horses, and had to make a few u-turns in gravel. Good going. At one point Josh stopped the car, turned around and drove up a hill to get a closer look at a deer. "The deer made this trip worth it." Josh said (oooh, foreshadowing). So we started to make the trek back home.

On the way back we were driving by a small hill. I looked out my window and saw... a deer standing there, and starting to move forward.

    "Deer."
    "Huh?"
    "Deer. Deer!"
    "Whoa!"

The deer literally jumped into the front right side of Josh's car, making a very loud noise. We parked the car and got out, seeing that the right headlight was smashed with a big dent right by it. We looked around for the deer, and saw it way back on the road behind us, where it trotted away like nothing had happened.

addendum: (random bystander): You okay? Man, you smacked the HELL outta that deer!"

Josh: "Little motherfucker, since you jumped in front of my damn car you could've at least died so we could strap you to the top and cook you later or something."

After a short talking to with some neighbors, we piled back into the car and went back to Josh's, and then I drove home.

When I got home I found mom, who told me that Mike and Dad were out at the video store. After going upstairs briefly, I went back down to ask mom if she was working Saturday (so I could go to KourinKon). She was at the table, reading my grades. They weren't good. This wasn't a good day for mom, first my brother had gotten kicked out of school, and I'd gotten bad grades. She started to yell at me, then started crying. Then my dad came home. You can guess how the rest went. Not as bad as I thought it would be though, and my grades are good enough for me to transfer into the business school at Santa Clara. I finally passed calc, so when I start in the fall, it'll be the first time since my very first quarter that I'm not taking a calc class. Talk about a weight off my mind... All right, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Perhaps I'll come back to this thing again before a few months go by this time.

Well, I'm back. Looks like I have shit to blog about too. No better place for me to talk about it, right?

    Saturday, July 21, 2001 - 05:13 p.m.

ed: can I go out with Josh tonight?
mom: okay. but don't stay out too late.
    ed: what's "too late?"
    mom: midnight.
    ed: midnight?!
mom: isn't that too late?! I don't want you out driving late at night! come home before 11!

    WHAT THE FUCK

    Saturday, July 21, 2001 - 02:29 a.m.

here's all of my recent problems. ranted them to my friend conrado. don't feel like retyping it out so I'll just paste it here.

    Conradothx: shogun?
    Rowgun: whaat
    Conradothx: nothing
    Rowgun: k
Rowgun: I did nothing the whole damn night
    Rowgun: I hate my parents
Conradothx: that is hebbish by them
    Rowgun: is fuckin bullshit
Rowgun: everybody was doing something tonight
Rowgun: even my gf was out having fun
    Rowgun: goddammit
    Conradothx: seriously
Rowgun: she just called me from her friend's place
Rowgun: they're playing GT3 on the official steering wheel
    Rowgun: damn them
Conradothx: really? fucking parents and cocksmanship
Rowgun: we've taken a huge evolutionary step backwards here
Rowgun: they gave me a car, and they expect me to just drive to school and back
Conradothx: i hate when that happens
    Conradothx: god damn parents
Rowgun: they get mad at me because I come home late and sleep till 1pm
Conradothx: exactly, same thing with my dad and mom
    Conradothx: exactly
Rowgun: so the last time I DID go out to have some fun, they were calling me at like 12:20 saying "why aren't you home??"
Rowgun: "why are you out so late??"
Conradothx: that is bull, that is why i don't want to give my parents my cell phone number
    Rowgun: heh
Rowgun: my parents gave me my cell phone unfortunately
    Conradothx: oh, weak
Rowgun: my dad's the real asshole here though
Rowgun: he's gone bad since the whole long beach thing
Conradothx: have you asked him why?
Rowgun: well, I know why now
Rowgun: after the San Ramon thing he explained in detail why he's stressed out
    Conradothx: why?
Rowgun: while I can understand, it fucking sucks for him to fuck with me because of it
    Conradothx: yeah
Rowgun: basically he's so desperate for peace of mind that he's willing to keep me just sitting at home so he won't have to worry about me
    Rowgun: motherfucker
    Conradothx: that's bullshit though
    Rowgun: tell me about it
    Rowgun: man
Rowgun: I've gone back to the ages where I did nothing but sit on my ass at home
Rowgun: I was hoping you guys would get me outta here tonight
Rowgun: Josh told me Carlos and Joubert were coming over to his place, but by then it was too late for me to go out
Rowgun: the whole day he was like "no, I'm busy, don't come over"
Conradothx: i was out... i got back and all of them went out, i wasn't in the mood
    Conradothx: josh said that?
    Rowgun: yeah
Rowgun: well, that was the condensed version
    Conradothx: cock shit
Rowgun: i was trying to get out so they couldn't stop me
Rowgun: but no, everybody was out
    Conradothx: no, i understand
Conradothx: well, than we sure as hell better do something
Rowgun: and I'm broke cuz Josh and I haven't done anything for the web page project in awhile
Rowgun: my dad never gives me money anymore, besides I don't want his
    Conradothx: why not?
    Rowgun: dunno
Rowgun: before he'd usually ask me if I needed any
    Rowgun: now he doesn't care
Conradothx: you might want to get a regular job then, me and francisco are going to go job hunting, you should come with us
Rowgun: my mom never has money and if she did, she doesn't give out much
Rowgun: I'm going to lake tahoe week after next though
    Rowgun: hmm
    Rowgun: but maybe afterwards
    Rowgun: man
    Conradothx: ok
Rowgun: whatta cocksucker, he keeps telling me to focus on school
Rowgun: doesn't seem to recognize that I'm on goddamn vacation
Rowgun: takes offense with me wanting to have fun because he's so stressed out
    Conradothx: haha, seriously
Rowgun: I hate living here now
Rowgun: I don't like to see him or talk to him
    Rowgun: I just want out
Conradothx: same thing with my mom, that is why i try to stay away from her
Rowgun: there's no way for me to move out though
Rowgun: I'm tied here because of michael
Rowgun: there's no way we can just send him off to some institution, he could never handle it
Rowgun: we spoiled him too much
Conradothx: maybe your dad is just going through a phase
Rowgun: he gets whatever he wants
    Rowgun: heh
    Rowgun: we'll see
    Conradothx: that's not good
Rowgun: the thing with usif was going well
Rowgun: I haven't asked my dad for money since summer started
Rowgun: all josh does is work on summer school stuff now
    Conradothx: that is cockshit
Rowgun: I dunno if my dad is intentionally trying to do this
Rowgun: but he's messing with my friends
Rowgun: and he's messing with my GF
Rowgun: that's probably what pisses me off the most
    Conradothx: probably
Rowgun: the one time I went out this week was to have dinner with katie
Rowgun: when we came back to my house nobody was home
Rowgun: then awhile later my dad called, he was pissed because I brought her inside
Conradothx: and that isn't your fault
Rowgun: and he said he was driving BACK to grandpa's house
Rowgun: he drove by, saw her car and turned around
    Conradothx: that is so stupid
Rowgun: he's such a cocksucker now
Rowgun: so now my gf is paranoid that he doesn't like her
Rowgun: and her parents think my dad doesn't like her because she's white
Conradothx: you seriously just have to really talk to him
    Rowgun: fuck that
Rowgun: I've talked to him enough lately
Rowgun: I see the look in his face whenever I do
Conradothx: haha, that's just like "enter the dragon"
Rowgun: right now all I want to do is graduate from college and get the hell outta dodge
Conradothx: i didn't know that she was white, there is nothing wrong with that, i'm sure your dad doesn't thing that
    Rowgun: yeah, I know
    Rowgun: but he's unapologetic
Rowgun: he doens't care if he's sending the wrong message
Rowgun: katie knew my dad when he was still nice
Conradothx: really? that is probably why she feels like crap
Rowgun: and goddammit, I still want a soda
Rowgun: we still have no goddamn soda in the house
Rowgun: I should be able to go out and buy something at 7-11
Rowgun: was so pissed earlier tonight that I just went to sleep at 10pm
Conradothx: just go and get the drink, isn't there one close?
    Rowgun: naw
    Rowgun: they'll wake up
Rowgun: remember when I went to your house?
Rowgun: at 3:30 in the morning?
    Conradothx: yeah
Rowgun: my mom actually told me they felt I was abusing them when I did that

I figured this would be as good a time as any to start working on this crazy thing. Right now I'm sitting in my OMIS 34 class half listening to the professor and half pondering what I should actually toss into this entry.

Yesterday I received a nice shock on the TV. I have the pc speakers hooked up through it, so I usually keep it on and muted. Around 5:30 the news was on, and I got a glimpse of a face. Thinking it looked somewhat familiar, I turned the volume on and started to pay attention. The guy was 19, Filipino, college student (no, not me). And he was arrested for planning a Columbine style assault on De Anza College. When I saw his name I thought it sounded familiar as well. Finally my suspicions were confirmed when the reporter was shown in front of the guy's house. I had been there once. It turns out he was a friend of a friend, whom I'd met a few times over the past few years. First thing I decided to do after the report was over was call the friend. He was naturally shaken up, and told me he had been pulled out of work, interrogated and his house was searched. He wasn't really in the mood to talk so I told him I'd call again next week. As the story was repeated over and over again through the night, I gradually got more of the story as I came in halfway through the original one. He was planning on blowing up the cafeteria and shooting anyone who tried to escape. Seemed like a nice guy when I ate dinner with him.
